What photos usually carry
Camera make and model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, the exact date and time, the editing software used, and on phones, GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres. All of it travels with the file when you send it to someone.
Removing metadata before sharing
Photos can carry the camera model, the date and time and the exact GPS location where they were taken. The remover shows what your file contains, including a map link for GPS coordinates, before cleaning it.
JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF are cleaned without re-encoding: the picture data is kept byte for byte, so there is no quality loss and animations keep every frame. The colour profile is kept so colours don't shift.
Other formats such as AVIF, BMP and TIFF are re-encoded to a format you choose. After cleaning, the file is read again and a comparison confirms that metadata, GPS and camera data are gone.
